MADRID (AP)—Diego Forlan showed he has maintained his World Cup form by scoring twice to help give Atletico Madrid a 4-0 win against Sporting Gijon in their Spanish league opener Monday.
Jose Manuel Jurado and Simao Sabrosa added goals for Atletico, last season’s Europa Cup winner which took the league lead on goal difference.

Forlan, who won the Golden Ball in South Africa after leading Uruguay to the semifinals, scored his second in the 63rd, before Simao Sabrosa hit Atletico’s fourth goal in injury time.
Colinas was also forced to save two shots by Aguero in injury time.

Atletico Madrid got off to a winning start tonight as they dismantled a fairly impotent Sporting de Gijon side on a fine evening in Madrid. Jurado and Diego Forlan scored in the first half for Los Colchoneros as the hosts entered half-time with a two-goal cushion. The FIFA World Cup Golden Ball winner netter a third goal to complete his brace and end the game as a contest and Simao Sabrosa struck in injury time to round off an impressive performance by the hosts.

On the Road: Day 10 with the Cardinals
Day 10
It’s another dreary, rainy day here in Flagstaff, Ariz., so the Cardinals are back indoors. Northern Arizona University’s stadium, Walkup Skydome, is actually pretty cool. It seats roughly 16,000 and sits on a little hill at the apex of nfl jerseys the campus. It gets pretty darn cold up here (remember, this is close to 2,000 feet above Denver). The floor of the dome is at 6,980 feet and there’s a red line around the place at the 20-foot mark to show where you hit 7,000 feet. Thankfully, I again made it through the day without losing my breath. Still, I need to hit the elliptical machine. Making the top of Halfdome at Yosemite next offseason is still the goal. There’s an old saying about quarterbacks I once heard from long-time NFL scout and executive Tom Braatz while I was in college. He said really good quarterbacks shouldn’t miss throws in practice. They should hit everything, particularly in seven-on-seven drills where there’s no pass rush. That brings me to Cardinals backup QB Derek Anderson(notes), who has a great arm and is a really good dude, the type of guy you cheer for because he’s funny and engaging. However, Anderson is also a Nuke LaLoosh thrower (not to mention that he’s a bit of a knucklehead, too). Anyway, during a series of five throws to receivers who were running skinny posts against air, Anderson missed badly twice. Now, some people will defend Anderson, pointing out he was a Pro Bowler in 2007 with Cleveland. Yeah, but if you remember, his top three receivers that season were Braylon Edwards(notes), Kellen Winslow(notes) and Joe Jurevicius(notes). Each of them is at least 6-foot-3. Get the point? At least the good news for Anderson is that the Cardinals also have a lot of tall receivers. … Speaking of Patriots jersey tall receivers, the Cardinals had their quarterbacks do what is commonly known as the “trash can” drill Sunday. On an angle from 25 to 40 yards away, the quarterbacks threw passes hoping to get them in a standing trash can. The purpose of the drill is to practice throwing high, deep passes that receivers have a chance to go get on the leap. … While the Cardinals are concerned about guards Deuce Lutui(notes) (he reportedly was almost 400 pounds in June, but is down to 360 now, he said) and Alan Faneca(notes) (there’s not a lot of tread left on the tires), it’s fair to say the team might have the best all-around line I’ve seen so far in training camp and in the offseason. Not that any teams were hitting in the offseason, but the Cardinals do a nice job on both run and pass blocking. By contrast, Dallas can really run block but is pass challenged, and San Diego is the other way around.
Song of the morning
A couple of you sent me some interesting cover suggestions, although there was some pretty standard stuff like “All Along the Watchtower” by Jimi Hendrix (covering Bob Dylan). I didn’t turn to that this morning, but I followed the Hendrix path to a superb cover of his “You’ve Got Me Floating” by P.M. Dawn. It’s a sweet recording and a pretty good interpretation. You can get it off the “Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix” CD.

As I wrote Sunday, I went to Oregano’s here and ate way too much. The best part of Vikings jersey the Alfredo dish I had was a chargrilled Poblano pepper they throw in the middle of the dish, which mixes ever so slightly with the cream sauce. You probably have to skip the nutmeg in the sauce since it’s going to get eaten alive by the Poblano, but the smoky flavor is a nice touch. The locals say there’s another place called Brix. I haven’t tried it. Maybe next time.

I have made my way to the Midwest, where’s it’s hot, sticky and decidedly monochromatic. As I read about the federal court’s decision in San Francisco on Wednesday, I looked out the window here in this depressed city of football jerseys 60,000 and wondered what the folks in this town think? It was a rhetorical question. Anderson, Ind., is the home of Anderson University, which doubles as the world headquarters for the Church of God, which means no drinking, dancing or anything that might lead to those two things. It’s a pretty place and the stadium where the Colts are practicing is surrounded with elm, maple and sycamore trees. It’s all pleasant, but this town is hurting. Delco Remy recently closed all 26 plants it had in town, taking 27,000 jobs out of the area. Unemployment is more than 11 percent. AP writer Michael Marot wrote a good story about the situation and what townspeople hope will be an Indianapolis Colts-led revival. Cross your fingers for the folks here (and everywhere, really). The Colts didn’t do much during the morning session and this team doesn’t do much hitting of any kind in training camp. That’s by design because this is an established, veteran team. No reason to bang those guys up too much right now. That said, it’s obvious the Colts want to get a little bigger on the offensive line, moving Tony Ugoh(notes) to left guard and then having several guys compete for the right guard spot. There’s getting big, but also staying athletic. “We do so much pass blocking, we still have to be active,” team president Bill Polian said. … The team has terrific depth at wide receiver with Reggie Wayne(notes), Pierre Garcon(notes), Austin Collie(notes) and Anthony Gonzalez(notes), who played in only one game and had no catches last season because of Giants jersey a right knee injury. However, the problem with this group is that aside from Gonzalez, who can return punts but never has, none of those guys play special teams. On most teams, the fourth receiver plays special teams. … Speaking of Wayne, he wasn’t happy about his contract this offseason (he has two years left) but he didn’t let that interfere with his preparation for the upcoming campaign. Wayne said he lost 14 pounds since the end of last season, reporting to camp at 191. One key for Wayne was paying more attention to his diet earlier in the offseason. … Both running backs Joseph Addai(notes) and Donald Brown(notes) look like they’re in good shape and looked quick. Of course, they haven’t gotten hit yet. Both of them need to avoid the minor injuries that have plagued them. … Coach Jim Caldwell said the team will be careful with strong safety Bob Sanders(notes), who has been riddled by injuries throughout his career. Caldwell said he won’t do anything to change the “violent” way Sanders plays on game days.

I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m no longer on the West Coast (as Jim Morrison said, “The West is the Best”), but I’ve been looking for a little inspiration the past couple of days. In these times of trouble, Oasis (and their heavy Beatles influence) comes to me with “Keep the Dream Alive.” Not their best work (“Champagne Supernova” is unreal to me, while “Wonderwall” and “A Bell Will Ring” are great), but it has a great lyric: “I’m no stranger to this place, where real life and dreams collide. And even though I fall from grace, I will keep the dream alive.” A tad corny, but the Fightin’ Gallaghers (Liam and Noel sound like a riot, literally) deliver it well. Words to live by.

Generally, I get my choice of Saints jersey rental cars and I’ve been lucky on this trip. Dodge Chargers in the first four stops (San Antonio, Los Angeles, Napa, Calif., and San Diego). Solid, comfortable rental. The trip to Flagstaff, Ariz., (thru Phoenix) was the highlight. There was a Dodge Challenger in the lot I was able to nab. I got to open up a little on the trip back from Flagstaff. That car is smooth even at 100 mph (not that I really did that, I swear). Anyway, I get to Indy, where I’m going to be picking up a car for a week of driving from here to Lexington, Ky., for the Bengals then to Cleveland/Canton for the Browns and the Hall of Fame. The selection of cars includes an assortment of Nissans and Kias. Oh well, at least I’m going to get good gas mileage.

It’s a series of fast-food joints interspersed with places like Ruby Tuesday, Lone Star and the Texas Roadhouse. However, if you keep going down the road, things get a little more interesting. Emphasis on “little.” Just before the university is an old drive-in called Gene’s Root Beer. Great ambiance. Yeah, it’s greasy, but it has character and it’s fun. That’s a start.
Proper etiquette
I had to share this moment from Monday night, when I took my stepdaughter to dinner in Phoenix. Sitting in the next booth was a couple on a date, a man and woman who each appeared to be in their 30s. The man’s back was to my stepdaughter’s back. Roughly 10 minutes after we got there, another woman walked up to the table, poured a glass of nfl throwback jerseys water over the guy’s head and then walked away saying, “He has a kid with me.” Nothing like a woman scorned. Anyway, I pass this along because my stepdaughter was appreciative of the fact that she didn’t get doused in the process. By pouring the water rather than throwing it in the guy’s face, the woman showed at least a modicum of restraint. Good form.

Caledonia man apparently gored, killed by bull
A man in Caledonia was found dead on his farm Friday morning after he was apparently gored by a bull.
The wife and brother of Kip Sullivan found his football jersey body Friday morning in tall weeds near a pen that contained long-horned bulls, Racine County Medical Examiner Tom Terry said.
Sullivan's wife told police that her 52-year-old husband went to his farm Thursday afternoon and did not return, Terry said. The wife searched for her husband late Thursday and did not find him.
The wife called the brother Friday morning to help with the search of the farm at 7528 W. River Road, Terry said. The two called authorities after they found Sullivan's body.
It's not clear why Sullivan apparently had been in the pen with the bulls. The bull that apparently gored Sullivan was between 1,200 and 1,500 pounds, Terry San Francisco 49ers jersey said. Several bulls in the pen will be processed at a slaughterhouse, the medical examiner said.
He said Sullivan received significant blunt force trauma, Terry said. Technicians in Waukesha County were performing an autopsy on Sullivan's body on Friday afternoon.

Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker and 12 supervisors pledged Friday to build a new psychiatric hospital on the County Grounds, aiming to address issues of violence and care at the county's 31-year-old building.

"The buck stops with me," he said in a meeting with Journal Sentinel reporters and editors.

John Chianelli, the county's behavioral health administrator, is being demoted to a different county job In his role, he oversaw the Mental Health Complex.
Karl Strelnick, a psychiatrist at the complex involved in two controversial cases, was suspended without pay, the first step in a move to fire him.
In 2006, one of Strelnick's patients, Cindy Anczak, died of complications of starvation at the complex.
That prompted federal inspectors to declare patients at the complex to be in "immediate jeopardy" and to threatento pull funding for patients. A similar declaration came in January after inspectors found medical staff failed to protect 11 of 17 patients on Ward 43-D - where Atkins was a patient - from inappropriate sexual contact.
In the case of St. Louis Rams jersey the woman who became pregnant, medical staff learned of the pregnancy Sept. 14 and waited at least two weeks before informing her guardian, the newspaper found. Strelnick was responsible for her care at that point.

In his first extensive comments since the newspaper's investigation was published, Walker noted he'd also endorsed the appointment of a citizen committee to review patient safety and other mental health issues and said he would name an interim behavioral health administrator, probably next week.
The person won't be someone who's on the complex staff, he said, adding an outsider is needed for reform.
"You can't do that with a leader who is under a cloud like that," Walker said, without mentioning Chianelli by name.
Walker said recently he would seek proposals for construction of a new mental health complex.
He and the board had dueled for years over whether a new state-of-the-art complex should be built, or if operations should be moved to the old St. Michael Hospital. After a stalemate on that question, some $3 million in repairs were made to the existing complex.
On Friday, 12 supervisors announced their support for a new building on the County Grounds. Walker said later in the day he supports that effort. Neither side discussed cost Friday, but estimates for a new facility prepared in 2008 put the cost of a new hospital at some $400 million.
Nurses and other staff say the physical layout of the building lends itself to problems. Hallways are long and difficult to monitor, and nursing stations are set far from patient rooms.
On Wednesday, Sheriff David Clarke released a report slamming complex administrators for the facility's antiquated security system and porous entrances that allow patients to leave and patients who had been discharged to linger.
The County Board and Walker couldn't agree on building a new complex or moving to remodeled quarters during a debate that dragged out for about two years. The issue has been dormant since early 2009, when the board voted down a Walker plan to move the complex to a remodeled St. Michael Hospital on Milwaukee's north side.
Opponents at the time questioned the cost and location.
The coalition of supervisors that supports building a new facility said Friday they would vote to spend $100,000 on a comprehensive study and cost analysis by next June.
While supervisors favored placement of most functions of a new complex on the County Grounds, the study the group endorsed will also consider shifting a psychiatric nursing home and outpatient mental programs elsewhere.

Kobe tunes out Celtics in Finals opener
LOS ANGELES – Chris Rock was yapping at Kobe Bryant(notes). Over and over, and who knows what that entailed. This was the siren call of Hollywood, an A-lister shout-out, a private act from the world’s funniest man. This opportunity is too precious for Kobe Bryant; now more than ever.
Bryant is in his 14th season, there’s a wrap around his tender right knee and just two months ago he had been eliminated from the best player in the league debate. Kobe was fading. The Lakers were vulnerable. In the first round some wondered whether Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant(notes) would best him. So went the chatter.
Now Durant is home tweeting, LeBron James(notes) is doing Larry King, and Bryant is dropping 30 on the Celtics, three victories now from his fifth NBA title. There’s no time for jokes. No time for fans. No time for anything.
“You’ve got a great opportunity here,” Bryant said of his mindset before the series, “‘Don’t [expletive] this [expletive] up.’”
The Celtics came to L.A. and stood around and watched the Lakers run offense and grab rebounds and beat them down the court. “First-game excitement,” coach Doc Rivers said.
Bryant would allow no such thing with his guys. These Lakers are California cool, a relaxed group trying to shed a “soft” label. They can’t afford to drift so their star showed up “serious,” according to Jordan Farmer. He only got more serious from there.
He had a huge night, 30 points, seven Super Bowl XLIII jersey rebounds and six assists. He led the Lakers defensively. He was in people’s faces when they needed to focus. He hugged them when they needed to celebrate a great play.
Afterward, Bryant had little to say, offering quick, short, unrevealing answers to the large international media contingent.

“I don’t know,” he said.
And that was pretty much it. Everything is within Kobe’s grasp now and he knows it. Forget the MVP voting or the free-agent summits or all the talk about the future of the league shifting in July. He was once part of a soap opera like that, even flirting with the Los Angeles Clippers. He almost derailed his career with an off-court scandal.
That Kobe now seems so far gone. He is about the present and only the present. He is about real accomplishments, not empty praise.
“At this point, the key is to win every game,” he said.
Bryant shared a postgame news conference with Pau Gasol(notes) because he didn’t care to wait for a solo shot. He doesn’t need the spotlight. He just wanted to get the night over with and get on with preparing for Game 2.
When Gasol was asked whether he was going to watch fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the French Open on Friday morning, Bryant snickered.
“If I wake up earlier tomorrow,” Gasol said, “I’ll maybe be able to watch a little bit of it.”
Bryant cut his teammate off.
“He’s getting his rest,” Kobe said.
Gasol looked at Bryant and then nodded.
“I definitely need my rest for sure,” he said. “I’ll just see the stats.”
Everyone laughed.

Wooden’s legacy that of an innovator
LOS ANGELES – John Wooden coached his final game on March 31, 1975. It was a victory of course, UCLA 92-85 over Kentucky to give the Bruins their 10th NCAA championship in a dozen years.
Wooden’s coaching accomplishments are unfathomable by any reasonable standard, an impossible to duplicate championship run paced by football jerseys four perfect seasons.
Yet his most profound impact came in the ensuing 35 years, when the man became a greater legend in retirement than as a coach. In his time away from the game, outside the daily spotlight he became an even more profound and respected role model.
Wooden passed away Friday at age 99 and you needn’t be a UCLA fan in particular, or a college basketball fan in general, to mourn the loss.
This was an American legend, even more away from the sideline than on it.
He represented a simpler time in sports, when coaches comported themselves with calm and class. He never swore. During games he rarely left his seat. He found his joy in preparation and practice. He still considered himself a teacher first, and it wasn’t just a marketing line.
“If you’ve done your job as a coach, you shouldn’t have to jump up and down and work for all that attention,” Wooden said in April. “If you’re the teacher, the game is the test, and you never see teachers running around the classroom during the test. They shouldn’t have to.”
He was a simple man from the small, southern Indiana town of Super Bowl XLIV jerseyMartinsville. He grew up in the country, often hitching a train for rides into town. A star player at Purdue (he was inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame as a player and as a coach), he found his greatest success as the oldest-school kind of a coach.
His style and system were hopelessly out of date even in the 1950s and ’60s. He’d first teach his players how to put on their socks before they were allowed to practice. He believed in personal betterment, his Pyramid of Success and the idea that doing the right thing, every day, was the only way.
Somehow he managed to connect with his players in the turbulent ’60s and ’70s, even in liberal Westwood, rather than some conservative, cornfield college town.
“He established a goal that is unreachable in college sports,” said Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson at the NBA Finals on Thursday. “And he held it to such a standard that we all appreciate his teachings and mentoring of his college students.
“I think it’s a day gone past for what we see now out of Tampa Bay Buccaneers jersey college players. But at the time, it was inspirational and his coaching has been an inspiration to all us coaches.”
You can quibble with the fine points of Wooden’s philosophies and coaching style but not the general principles behind it.
Thirty-five years later he remained a teacher, penning a book just this year on mentorship. He was kind and forever generous with his time. He did endless charity work. His focus remained on his faith and his family; until recently he still visited his late wife’s grave monthly and penned weekly letters to her.
He did the things no one does. He was a constant in the swirling tides of change, a reminder of another way of living, a simpler way of conducting one’s business. He coached to coach, not for big contracts or endless fame.
His ability to live that life is what has endeared him to generations of Americans.
No one younger than 40 can even remember when he was an actual coach, yet Wooden’s name, his values, his teachings still ring true.
Until his health began to fade in recent years, he would travel to the Final Four and find adoring crowds who would cheer him like a rock star. He spoke just months ago about the pride he felt in watching Butler and its Indiana-born coach Brad Stevens streak to the Final Four with a style of play he could appreciate.

There is a scenario that is all too familiar to us in the tech office...
An account manager comes storming in, hands in hair, shouting and screaming because one of nfl jersey their clients were hit by a spambot. Ok, I might be exaggerating a little bit...well maybe a lot. But just last week it happened again.
One of our clients received spam in their inbox - submitted via their website form. Luckily, I could calmly respond that we can add our spam protection to the website forms. An hour later, and the job was done, or so I thought.
Along with the usual thank you message from the account manager, was a query from the client who wanted to know how we actually do it. Normally clients are just happy to have the spam stop, but this inquisitive client is the reason that I'm writing this post and explaining how we go about stopping spam messages.
Without going into too much technical detail about how our spam prevention works, the steps we follow include the following:
1. A Honeypot Trap
According to Wikipedia a honeypot is: "... a trap set to detect, deflect, or in some manner counteract attempts at unauthorized use of information systems." In plain English it means we set a trap for the spambot and hope they step in it.
We add an invisible (to the visitor, not the spambot) field to the form and with server side validation check whether the field was filled in. Of football jerseys all the prevention steps we take this is the most effective, as spambots are normally not intelligent enough to pick up that the field is invisible and should not be filled in, and I would estimate based on our logs that it stops around 80-90% of all attacks.
2. Comparing a Randomly Generated Field Value
This involves generating a random value and saving it in the session. This value is also set on the form we are protecting and when the form is submitted we compare the value from the form and the session to see if they match.
3. Timestamp Comparison

The referrer header is the URL of the page from which the request was made. If this URL is not from the same domain as the website, it could indicate that the request was made from a spambot.

After reading a few spam messages, it is easy to determine their modus operandi. It is normally either full of links and/or full of all those unwanted 4 letter words. If the spambot managed to get past the other prevention checks, it will normally fail at this step.
We check content based on three criteria:
• Links - Messages that contain many links are a common trademark of spambots.
• Blocked Words - Words that are not allowed to appear in the message at all. These would normally include those unwanted 4 letter words spambots love to use.
• Bad Words - Words that are only allowed to appear a set number of times in the message. This would include words like 'free' that would be used in a normal human submitted message, yet in a spam message would normally occur a few times.
