Gunn Highway in northwest Tampa Sunday afternoon. Sears was arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from a June charge for battery on a police officer. Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies decided that Sears needed to be held for a mental health evaluation under the state's Baker Act. a sad chapter in the puzzling case of what has actually happened to Sears. The Bucs released him and were never able to give a reasonable explanation as to what happened to Sears after his second year with the team. He started 16 games as a rookie then 15 in his second season.
